Message from Chairman Phil to the CRFU

Dear Roger,

I wish to convey my appreciation of this year’s County Championship to you and the players in this year’s Campaign.

The bitter taste of losing the final to a highly skilled and physical Lancashire must be so close to the player’s hearts that no words of mine can assuage their disappointment.

But, please be assured that the team that has taken us to Twickenham for the fifth consecutive time, defeating Surrey, Devon and Hertfordshire in such emphatic matches should never feel that they have in any way failed Trelawny’s Army and the assembled ranks of Cornish Rugby supporters. I hope in time that they should draw a sense of pride of what they have accomplished, namely reaching a Twickenham Final, a pinnacle that many rugby players will never accomplish.

The County Campaign games mounted by Cornwall are still the best supported matches that many of your players we see in their playing careers and are a testimony to the efforts made by CRFU Officers and the Players alike.

Trelawny’s Army are immensely proud of “Our Players”, who have worn the “Black & Gold” over the last four weeks and the only disappointment we will have is that we have to wait another year to wear our Black & Gold and fly the flags once again.

Please relay my heart felt appreciation to the Players and Officials alike and I wish you all the best until we can do this once again in 2018.

Phil Trevarton

Chairman
Trelawny’s Army Supporters Club

Twickenham security measures enhanced

The information below will also apply to the England V Barbarians game and County Finals on Sunday 28th May.

People travelling up to Twickenham on Saturday for the rugby clash between Exeter Chiefs and the Wasps are being advised there will be extra security in place at the stadium.

Security is being increased across the country as a result of the Manchester attack.

The Chiefs said on their website that police had implemented extra measures for Saturday’s Premiership Final, with kick-off due at 14:30. People have also been advised “not to bring bags”.

The Rugby Football Union said: “We have been operating enhanced security measures for some time and will continue to do so for both match days this weekend. We work closely with the police for all our events at the stadium.”

Weather forecast is good and its right next to the back entrance to the ground. Nice boozer with plenty of room outside. We use it for Pirates matches. Then clubhouse after? Oll an gwella.

Transport updates Tamar Cup & Twickenham

At the committee meeting held at Truro RFC on 8th February it was decided by the committee that the club would not run a supporters coach to Tiverton for this season’s Tamar Cup game.

It is hoped that having made this early decision it will give supporters, especially those from the east of the county, the chance and time to make their own arrangements should they wish to travel to the game.

The committee also decided that should Cornwall get to Twickenham this year it will not be running an up and back on the day coach. This coach has been running at a considerable loss for the last couple of years, and there is precious little time to organise, especially with a Bank Holiday in the way.

This does not effect the overnight coaches (with hotel stay) that we plan to run. Please see Bryan’s web page in the link

John Rowe wishes to thank “One & All”

John asked me to put his thanks on here to all who attend Trelawny’s Army Dinner and Sing Along on Saturday evening at the Rose-in-Vale, Mithian.

Special thanks to Kenny Plummer and his good lady for being our honoured guests for the evening and to the Cadgwith Singers who royally entertained us.

Not forgetting the staff at Rose-in-Vale, many thanks for the wonderful service and delicious meal served up.

We look forward to returning again in 2018 for what will be our “Silver Jubilee” Dinner.

TASC make ball presentations to promoted clubs

Officials from Trelawny’s Army were present at both Camborne and Roseland rugby clubs last Saturday to make the first of this season’s presentations of training balls to clubs who achieved promotion last season.

Club Chairman Phil Trevarton was at Roseland to make the presentation prior to their game against Liskeard-Looe.

Whilst, Vice-Chairman David Broadhurst was at Camborne making a presentation to club Chairman Andy Gill in the clubhouse prior to their game against Bromsgrove.

Both clubs were delighted and grateful to the “Army” for their generous gesture.

Further presentations will take place during the season to all clubs that won promotion last season.
