Photo: Saltash at Twickenham ahead of Senior Vase Final
Away from the county senior and under 20 sides there was still a fair bit of other rugby played over the weekend.
Sharing the billing with Cornwall Under 20s at Twickenham were Saltash in the final of RFU Senior Vase against Yorkshire side Wath-upon-Dearne.
Sadly for the Ashes it was close but no cigar as the Yorkshire side edged out the win 22-18.
It was a game that Saltash could have won. Both Cornwall squad players win Will Morton and flanker Lewis Wells scored tries with Ryan Cruickshanks adding a third near the end.
Sadly it wasn’t a day for the Saltash kickers with Harrison Reburn successful with just one kick at goal, with Kieran Down also missing his chances.
Saltash were denied a score for a double movement, whilst Wath profited from a wicked bounce to score a try, on such margins are finals won or lost.
