Trelawny’s Army Supporters Club gathered at the St Austell Brewery Visitor Centre on Wednesday (23 September 2026) for the Club’s Annual General Meeting and Player of the Year Presentation Evening, celebrating a memorable season that saw both the Cornwall men’s and women’s sides reach Twickenham.
On the Club front, long-serving media officer Bill Hooper stepped down and was made a life member of Trelawny’s Army in recognition of his years of service – and capped the evening by being part of the presentation party for two of the three big awards.
Herbie Stupple (Camborne) was named men’s player of the year, collecting the Bill Osborne Trophy from Bill Hooper, men’s head coach Graham Dawe (pictured), Nigel Hocking and Sean Jarvis, after a stand-out campaign up front as Cornwall won Division One at Twickenham for the first time since 2022.
Abby Smith (Ivybridge) was handed the Jess Humber Shield as women’s player of the year, presented by Karen Bunt, women’s head coach Jo Holden (pictured), Barbara Hocking and Sean Jarvis following a try-scoring season that helped Cornwall Women win promotion to Division One with victory over Durham at Twickenham.
Riley Raikes (St Austell) took the Tony Mead Memorial Trophy for Under 20s player of the year, presented by Marina Trevarton, Bill Hooper (pictured), John Rees and Sean Jarvis, after an impressive season in the front row.
Congratulations to all three award winners, and of course to Bill on a life membership thoroughly earned after his years of service to the Club.
