Round up of rugby news and reports

Having surprisingly lost at home the previous week to bottom side Richmond in the Championship, the Pirates turned their attention to British & Irish Cup action against London Irish on Sunday.

With a rotated squad the Pirates slipped to a 33-24 defeat leaving the exiles in control of their pool prior to next Sunday’s return fixture at the Mennaye.

Pirates storm Knight’s Castle

On Sunday the Cornish Pirates travelled to Doncaster Knights, last season’s beaten play-off finalist’s, and came away from Castle Park with an emphatic 35-26 win.

It put an end to a losing Championship run of five games and showed that this squad can compete with the best in the Championship.

Big crowd see Pirates go down against London Irish

 

The Cornish Pirates played a home game on Saturday when they entertained Championship leaders London Irish at the Mennaye.

Despite a crowd of 2,043 packed in at the Mennaye the Pirates couldn’t deny Irish as the exiles continue their march back towards the Premiership following their 35-24 win.

Sam reports for training following 3 try salute

Pirates win keeps them in contention in B&I Cup
