Weekly round up on the Cornish rugby scene

The main topic of conversation this week has been the stadium vote, which happily saw the project granted £3 million by Cornwall Councillors. We now await the decision from Westminster on the other £3 million which will finally see this project get off the ground.

Trelawny’s Army support for players attending South West trials

Once again Trelawny’s Army Supporters Club are proud to be able to assist with a contribution towards the thirteen players travelling expenses to Keynsham next Sunday for the South West trials, which will ultimately lead to selection for the South West at the regional festival and then England Counties U.20 tour to Georgia this summer.

The Cornish Pirates gave one of their finest displays of the season at a sunny Mennaye with a 51- 20 defeat of visiting Richmond.

The win lifts the Pirates up to fourth place in the Championship table ahead of this week’s game at third place Bedford Blues.

It is with great sadness that TASC were informed of the passing of our former Honorary Secretary Roger Watson. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nikki and the family at this sad time. Roger was a founder member of TASC and appointed Honorary Secretary at it's first meeting in 1993. He helped steer the club through difficult waters with the CRFU following the founding of the club, eventually smoothing the troubled waters and gaining acceptance of TASC....

Coach Richie Kevern was understandably disappointed with the result. “We worked hard to get the score-line back to 20-14 at half-time and I thought we started the second period well but we were crucified when Devon scored four tries in the space of 12 minutes that put the game to bed....

Unsurprisingly there are 11 players from Launceston Ladies who this season have won promotion to Championship 2 next season. Cornwall Women have a challenging pool to navigate commencing with a trips to Hampshire and Gloucestershire before their home game at Polson Bridge against Devon, which will also see a Women’s Tamar Cup competed for for the first time....
