Privacy and Cookies Policy

Last updated: 11 October 2026

This policy explains how Trelawny’s Army (TASC), the Cornish Rugby Supporters Club, (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects information when you visit trelawnysarmy.org, and how we use cookies on the site.

Who we are

Trelawny’s Army is a volunteer-run supporters club for Cornish rugby. If you have any questions about this policy or how your information is handled, please contact webmaster@trelawnysarmy.org.

If you’re a TASC member, see our Membership GDPR notice for how we handle the information you give us when you join, separate from the website data covered below.

Information we collect

  • Blog comments: if you leave a comment on the site, we store the name, email address and (for spam-prevention purposes) IP address you provide, in line with standard WordPress practice. Comments are checked for spam using Akismet.
  • Site accounts: if you register for a member account, or you are a contributor, author or administrator who logs in to help run the site, your account contains the name and email address you gave us, a password (stored in scrambled form, never as plain text) and, optionally, a profile photo. Sign-in and registration forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA (see below).
  • Contact forms: if you get in touch via a form on the site, we use the details you provide (such as your name and email address) only to respond to your enquiry.
  • Usage data: like most websites, we automatically collect some technical information about your visit (such as pages viewed and general location) via the analytics and security tools described below.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We use them to run the site properly, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. Our cookie banner is provided by Complianz: scripts in each category below only run once you’ve given consent for that category. When you first visit, you can choose which categories to allow, or change your choice at any time using the button below.

Functional (always active)

These cookies are essential for the site to function, or record your cookie consent choices, and cannot be switched off. They do not store any personally identifying information.

  • cmplz_banner-status, cmplz_policy_id, cmplz_consented_services, cmplz_functional, cmplz_preferences, cmplz_statistics, cmplz_marketing, wp_consent_functional, wp_consent_preferences, wp_consent_statistics, wp_consent_marketing (1 year) – record your cookie consent choices, set by Complianz.
  • wpgmza-api-consent-given (1 year) – remembers whether you have agreed to load the interactive map, set by the WP Go Maps plugin that draws our club map. It holds only a yes/no value.
  • wpEmojiSettingsSupports (session) – lets WordPress check whether your browser can display emoji.

Preferences

We do not currently set any cookies in this category.

Statistics

These help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. We use Google Analytics 4, connected via Site Kit by Google, and Jetpack Stats. Jetpack Stats does not load unless you accept this category. Google’s tag is loaded in a restricted state: until you accept, it sets no cookies and sends no measurement data. Your browser still downloads the tag’s code file from Google, so Google receives your IP address and browser details, as it would for any web request.

  • _ga, _ga_* (about 13 months) – Google Analytics cookies used to distinguish visitors and report on site usage.
  • tk_ai, tk_qs, tk_or, tk_lr (varies) – Jetpack Stats cookies used to measure site usage.

Marketing

Set by third-party services embedded on the site, which only load if you accept this category. We do not run our own advertising or ad-tracking.

  • Facebook – the Facebook Share button on posts, which loads Facebook’s own code.
  • Google Maps – for location maps.

Other third-party services on this site

Some pages include content or tools provided by other organisations, which may set their own cookies or process data under their own privacy policies:

  • Google Maps – for location maps. The map on our Map page, and the sortable club table beside it, only load after you agree by clicking “I agree” on the map or by accepting the Marketing category. Until then your browser does not contact Google for the map.
  • Instagram and Facebook – the feeds from our Facebook page and Instagram account on the home page and sidebar are fetched by our own server and shown on this site. They set no cookies, and your browser does not contact Facebook or Instagram unless you click a post to go to their sites. Our links to them, and the Facebook Share button described under Marketing above, are separate.
  • Gravatar (Automattic) – profile pictures shown next to comments and on member accounts are loaded from Gravatar, which receives your IP address and browser details.
  • TikTok, YouTube and X – we link to our channel and account from the menu and social icons; these are outbound links only, we do not embed video or feeds from them, so visiting our site does not set any TikTok, YouTube or X cookies.
  • Jetpack (Automattic) – site statistics, security and social sharing features. Jetpack’s image service (i0.wp.com) also delivers many of the pictures on the site from Automattic’s servers, so that they load faster. This is part of delivering the pages you ask for; Automattic receives your IP address and browser details, as it would for any web request, and the service sets no cookies.
  • Google reCAPTCHA – helps protect our forms from spam and abuse.
  • Wordfence – helps protect the site from malicious activity.
  • Akismet – filters spam from blog comments.

Managing your cookie preferences

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal of optional analytics and marketing cookies and do not show you the cookie choice banner. You can still log in.

Otherwise, you can choose which non-essential cookies to allow at any time using the button above, or by clearing your cookies and revisiting the site, which will show the banner again. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, though blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to receive a copy of it. To exercise any of these rights, contact webmaster@trelawnysarmy.org. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add new features or tools to the site. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent changes.
