Vernon Parkin – RIP

Trelawny’s Army was saddened to learn that former County player Vernon Parkin had passed away whilst visiting his son in the States.

Parkin was a hard-running and feisty centre who broke through into the county side in the 68-69 season. The Penryn centre featured in all the county championship games including the final against Lancashire held at Redruth in front of some 23,000 spectators.

In all Parkin played for Cornwall on 20 occasions including the famous draw in France against a French Selection and the subsequent return game in Redruth against France B.

He went on to play at Bristol and Northampton.

The Army sends it’s condolences to all Vernon’s family and friends.
