Report by Bill Hooper

Trelawny's Army Supporters Club Annual General Meeting was once again held at the St. Austell Brewery Visitor Centre.

Once the formalities of the meeting were completed, we were delighted to welcome Mark Stevens, Sports Editor of the Western Morning News, to make our Player of the Year Presentations.

The Cornwall Player of the Year, as voted by our members, went to Cornwall's captain during the 2009 County Championship, Ryan Westren of the Cornish All Blacks.

Ryan was an inspirational captain during Cornwall's most successful Championship campaign for many seasons, a worthy winner and very popular choice as recipient of the "Bill Osborne" Memorial Shield. A former winner of the U.20 award five years ago Ryan is the first player to go on to add the senior award.

The "Tony Mead" Memorial Shield for the Cornwall U.20 player went to Sean Hawkey of Wadebridge Camels and UWIC, very fitting for a winger to win this award. Sean enjoyed a fine season breaking into the full county side and thrilling the crowds with his exciting play, culminating in the three tries he scored against Somerset at Redruth.
