The victorious Cornwall team's trip to
the Scillies, 1999 Photos by Steve Nodder |
Note by Steve Nodder: The photos show the Cornwall team's trip to the Scillies to proudly display the County Championship trophy after their great victory in the 1998/99 season. After following all the preliminary matches right up to the final I was somewhat gutted at missing the final due to it clashing with my annual holiday ( a mistake I won't be making again ). When it was announced that Deano and the boys would be making the trip to St.Mary's and that supporters could join in at a special Trelawny's Army discount rate we felt it was an opportunity too good to miss. A great day was had by all ( let's leave the sea sickness out of the story to save embarrassment to the several sufferers). It culminated in a fantastic re-enactment of one of the tries, performed by the Army's very own Trevor Tyrell on the beach after perhaps one too many pints of scuppered ale. The return trip was a lot more favourable on the stomach and considerably more ale was downed than on the outbound leg. (A tip for all Scillonian travellers: it does get better.) All in all a great day was had by all .
